Hello! And welcome to the brand new Buttercup website and blog. I'm so incredibly excited you are here. I have so many fun things planned for this little business of mine. And I'm looking forward to sharing these experiences with you. So let's not waste any time. We're jumping right in!

How many of you enjoy gardening with your kids?
I've always been a fan! Whether you have a large garden, like the very determined little Xie (pictured here) or just a few potted plants on your front porch, gardening is such a wonderful thing to do with kids. Not only does it teach them how to nurture and care for something, but it also teaches them patience (which we all know is hard to find in younger babes, lol).
As they say, "All things grow with love."
Not to mention, dirt is like nature's great big sensory box. Which is super fun! Am I right?
So, let's do some planting! And while we're at it, we might as well make an event out of it. With PRIZES!!!

How To Plant Your Sunflower Seeds

These seeds are a random mix of around 10 varieties of sunflowers. Plants will grow to varying heights of anywhere from 1 - 7ft tall. Colors range from orange, yellow, red and even bi-colored blooms all Summer long! Sunflowers love all the sun. So be sure to choose a nice, sunny spot for them.
- Once threat of frost had passed, sow seeds at a depth of 1/2in deep. Space them 6 - 12in apart.
- Water daily.
- Seeds will begin to germinate about 7 - 10 days after sowing.
- Stems may need to be staked until they are strong enough to support themselves.
Sunflowers grow tap roots, and are not particularly fond of being transplanted. So if it's still chilly in your area and you need to start your seeds indoors, be sure to use a peat pot that can be transplanted without disturbing the roots. Sunflowers are happier planted in the ground. But if you're like me and don't have an in-ground garden, a large pot may be used instead. The deeper, the better.
Good luck! And have fun!
Can't wait to see all your pics!
